Website vs. Social Media for Contractors: Which One Gets the Call?
Plenty of contractors run their whole business off a Facebook page. It works, right up until the day it doesn’t.

What social media is good for
Let’s be fair. Facebook, Instagram, and Nextdoor are great for showing off a fresh roof, a clean install, or a spotless kitchen after a deep clean. They’re free, they’re fast, and neighbors share them. If you’re posting your work, keep doing it.
The problem with “Facebook is my website”
Here’s how homeowners actually hire. They search Google, look at the map, read reviews, and then check you out. BrightLocal’s 2026 survey found that after reading positive reviews, 54% of people go to the business’s website. If there’s no website to land on, you just handed that moment of trust to a competitor who has one.
Social media also isn’t where those searches start. In Whitespark’s May 2025 study, Google’s map pack showed up on 93% of local-intent searches. A website is one of the signals Google uses to decide who shows up there. A Facebook page alone usually doesn’t cut it.
And then there’s the scary part: you don’t own your social page. Algorithm changes can bury your posts overnight. Accounts get hacked or locked, and getting them back can take weeks. Years of photos and reviews, gone, and the phone goes quiet. Your website is yours. Nobody can switch it off.
Homeowners are picky, too. In Modernize’s 2025 Homeowner Insights Report, about 6 in 10 said they’d compare just one or two quotes. A professional site is often the difference between making that cut and getting scrolled past.
Use both, but own one
The winning setup is simple. Post your work on social to stay top of mind. Send every post, bio, and profile link back to your website, where people can see your services, read reviews, and tap to call. Social is the billboard. Your website is the storefront.

The bottom line
Social media gets you noticed. A website gets you hired. Launchpad websites start at $599, built for trade businesses across Largo and Tampa Bay.
