Google Business Profile Posts for Tampa Bay Contractors

A quick weekly post with a real job photo keeps your profile looking open and busy. Here's what to post, and the one mistake that gets posts taken down.

Why posts are worth five minutes

When a homeowner taps your listing in the map results, your recent posts show up on your profile. A post from last week with a photo of a new water heater or a finished roof tells them you're open, you're busy and you do the job they need. A profile with no posts in a year leaves them wondering.

Posts take a few minutes from your phone, cost nothing and keep working for you between jobs.

Why posts get removed

The most common mistake is putting your phone number in the post text. Google's posts content policy says it may remove posts with contact information, including phone numbers, email addresses and social media handles. We've seen it happen: a contractor post with a number typed into the text was taken down.

The fix is simple. Leave contact details out of the text and add the Call now button when you create the post. That button uses the verified phone number already on your profile, so the call still comes straight to you.

  • No phone numbers, emails or social handles in the text. Use the Call now button.
  • Keep the number in your profile details. That's where Google expects it.
  • Only post what's true. Real jobs, real photos, real offers you actually honor.

What to post

  • Finished jobs. A photo of the work, what you did and the town. This is the easiest and most useful post.
  • Seasonal reminders. AC tune-ups before summer, roof checks before storm season, water heater flushes, panel checks before adding an EV charger.
  • Services people don't know you offer. If you do tankless water heaters, mini-splits or gutter repair, show one.
  • Team and trucks. A photo of your crew or a clean truck on site builds trust.
  • Updates. New service area, holiday hours or after-hours availability.

How to write one

  • Lead with the job and the place. "New 3-ton AC install in Land O' Lakes" says more than "Another happy customer!"
  • Use your own photo. A real photo from the job beats stock images every time.
  • Keep it short. Two or three sentences is plenty.
  • Add a button. Call now for urgent work, or Learn more linking to the matching service or city page on your site.
  • Never share private details. No customer names, street addresses or house numbers in the text or photo.

New tankless water heater installed in Largo this week. No more running out of hot water halfway through a shower. Tap Call now to ask if tankless makes sense for your home.

FAQ

Can I put my phone number in a Google Business Profile post?

Don't. Google's posts policy says it may remove posts with contact details such as phone numbers, emails or social handles in the text. Add the Call now button instead, which uses the verified number on your profile.

How often should a contractor post?

Once a week or every two weeks is a pace most shops can keep. A steady habit beats a burst of posts followed by months of silence.

What should I post about?

Real jobs. A photo of the finished work, the type of job and the neighborhood or town makes a post that homeowners trust and that matches what they search for.

Do posts help me rank in the map?

Google doesn't list posts as a ranking factor. Posts help homeowners who find your profile see that you're active and do the work they need, which helps turn a profile view into a call.

Can Launchpad run my posts?

Yes. Launchpad sets up and keeps Google Business Profiles current for Tampa Bay contractors, including posts. Call (727) 634-9808 for a free quote.
